Summary

There's no doubt whatsoever, that Patriot's new Warp v3 256 GB SSD is in a class of its own. There's no doubt with regards to the performance and we can clearly see the boost in performance compared to the older Warp v2-series. It has been a very nice - and rare - pleasure to test this disk, because it doesn't matter how fast your Core i7 is running, or how many video cards you have installed along with the rest of the "bells and whistles" - the harddrive will still remain an enormous bottleneck and this is VERY noticeable when working with such a sublime SSD compared to a conventional HDD, which almost seems like a remnant from a long forgotten past after having tried the Patriot Warp v3.

Innovation/Technology - 5
256 GB + SSD + Patriot = max points. It's that simple - if there's just one spot in which this disk deserves full points, it is for the innovation. SSDs are built upon an old technology that has been innovated and reformed - the only thing making innovations like this possible is the courage to do so, and Patriot has exactly that.

Design/Layout - 5
The disk itself seems very robust and longlasting. The assembling quality is also top-notch and the casing is built of a tough light-metal. It doesn't weigh a lot and it doesn't take up much space - it's actually just as portable as an external harddrive.

Performance - 5
Depending on the test, we've not only reached the specified limits of 240 MB/s read speed (250 MB/s is the maximum that SATA can handle) and 160 MB/s write speed - we've surpassed them. The disk doesn't seem to care if it is filled to its rims with data, and in some cases it even improved its performance. Almost regardless of which system you're upgrading from, a disk like this will give you one of those very rare "wow" experiences, that the hardware-industry only rarely offers. To put it simply, the difference is so immensely huge that it is a must to try it, and besides that, there's another huge advantage: no noise! no squeeking or crunching at all!

Price - 5
The Patriot Warp v3 256 GB has been seen at around DKK 5.675,- ( ~760€ ). Which would have reached a grade of 4 from us,  because among the other 31 SSDs that can be found at the danish price-comparison site for computer hardware, www.edbpriser.dk, it has come in at a 7th place.,and the price pr. GB would be at DKK 22,17 (~2,97 € / GB) which no other disk in this class can compete with. However we just heard that the danish distributor MMD.dk have decided to further lower the price along with this review, to the sum of DKK 4.999,- (~670€). This will give us a price of DKK 19,52 (~2,62€ / GB) which would place Patriot Warp as nr. 4 on the list, where the only ones cheaper are a couple of small and cheap bambus-discs. That's why the Patriot Warp v3 256 GB has an attractive price, for which enthusiasts considering buying an SSD drive will find very good value. Therefore a maximum grade.

Spændende test. Hvordan er Patriot's stømforbrug sammelignet med de to HDD'S?
